CAUSES OF ED

Causes of ED:

ED causes psychosocial impairment than previously thought.Men with and without Erectile dysfunction (ED) is associated with psychological dysfunction, but this finding is based on comparisons.

Latini and colleagues, therefore, explored the relationship between ED and psychosocialimpairment; they found that as the severity of ED worsens, psychological dysfunction also worsens.

lipid-lowering drugs cause erectile dysfunction.

Lipid-lowering drugs have been prescribed increasingly. Their relationship to ED is controversial. reported by patients Erectile dysfunction (ED) is common although under.

Drug-induced impotence needs to be considered as a cause of this symptom with the better known causes of ED.

To clarify the relationship between lipid-lowering therapy and ED is our aim.To assess the value of the sytematic review procedure in the area of adverse drug reactions is our secondary aim.

This information was also sought from regulatory agencies.Terms denoting ED were linked with terms referring to lipid-lowering drugs.A  review was carried out using computerized biomedical databases.
Information from clinical trials and from regulatory agencies cleared that a significant literature was identified, much from obscure sources, which included  case reports, review articles.Information from all of these sources identified fibrates as a source of ED.Regulatory agencies reported that substantial number of cases of ED associated with statin usage. Case reports and clinical trial evidence supported the suggestion that statins can also cause ED.Information on possible mechanisms was obtained, but the mechanism remains uncertain.

Review procedure was applied successfully to collect evidence suggesting that both statins and fibrates may cause ED. More numerous reports to regulatory agencies to provide a new perspective on a common area of prescribing.
